Day 17: Mon 28 Dec Woods Point to Burnt Bridge

The night had been super cold at 2 degrees, but we were actually over heated in our super duper sleeping bag. We got up shivering and had a brew then Steve decided to have a hot shower in a bucket! So he half filled it from the freezing stream and then tipped in a kettle of boiling water. Voila! Warm water! He stuck the 12v pump in, switched on the shower head and proceeded to have the quickest outdoor shower in history! Brrrrr!

Laura was a pussy and just did a quickie with a sponge haha. Anyway at least we won't smell too bad now!!

We headed into Woods Pt for a better look around. It is the prettiest old Alpine village in need of a bit of a polish. It has a museum but just to stroll around was awesome. We also tracked Sambar deer around the mini golf course!

We then continued on up the gravel track towards Jamieson. The campgrounds along the way we're absolutely packed, especially along the creek frontage.

The day had warmed up nicely and was now 24 degrees and sunny. We arrived at Jamieson Brewery and had great countery meals of Porterhouse and Schnitzel accompanied by local brewed clear apple cider, in their huge beer garden.

After lunch, we continued on to Burnt Bridge campground, which to our great delight, was completely empty except for large boxes and bags of rubbish which the previous campers had left behind.

We found out later that a mob of teenage hoons had been terrorizing the campground for the past few days and had only just left that day! Good timing on our part!  We ended up having the best campsite in the whole area all to ourselves, right next to the creek. Perfect!

It was about then that we decided to get Fleur out of her box... Who is Fleur, I hear you say?  Well Fleur is my new girlfriend!  She is a 2m high inflatable Flamingo who is just perfect for lazing around on the river...!!!  But more about her tomorrow.
